Crystall Sabiana

The current pandemic and resulting health crisis that is putting humanity and the global economic and production system in great difficulty, has increased awareness about the quality of the air we breathe, especially in indoor residential environments and in the workplaces, to which we all hope to be able to return in the coming months. This invisible enemy, much more dangerous and difficult to fight, spreads in the air we breathe and when it infects us it attacks the entire respiratory system. The social distancing measures adopted on a national but also on an international level, which involve our staying in our homes for a long time, makes us increasingly reflect on how important it is to be concerned about and deal with the quality of the air we breathe in our homes, where we will be spending much more time, also due to the new ways of working remotely or restrictions on mobility. Since viruses and bacteria spread in the indoor air of confined spaces, which we all breathe for many hours a day, its quality is, and will necessarily be, entrusted to Ventilation systems equipped with adequate Filtration. This will increase the attention of public institutions, individuals and all operators in the industry and will become the engine that will drive new engineering solutions in the coming months and years.Every day we read and hear from the various media of new scientific research that links the increase in the spread of infections and the fatality rate of the Covid-19 virus to fine dust (PM10, PM2.5 and PM1), which the WHO has always considered as the main cause of diseases affecting the respiratory system and which claim tens of thousands of victims per year. For over 25 years Sabiana has promoted the concepts of indoor Air Quality and the importance of designing air conditioning and ventilation systems in a rational manner and aimed, also and above all, at protecting human health. With its courses it has trained and raised the awareness of thousands of professionals in Italy and will continue in this campaign, which, now more than ever, is of extreme social utility. The Sabiana Crystall electronic filters (or active electrostatic plate filters), patented and available on all hydronic terminals, are the concrete and easy-to-implement response to the risk associated with the spread of both chemical and microbial pathogens in the environment. The solutions equipped with the Crystall electronic filter have 3 fundamental effects on reducing the risk associated with the spread of pathogens in the environment: 1 they retain fine particles, with an efficiency of up to 95% for PM1 (new Crystall 150 filters); since fine (liquid and solid) particles are the main carrier that conveys all the substances present in the air into our lungs, reducing dust in the environment is a first step towards the reduction of the risk associated with the spread of pathogens;2 electronic filters have an effective biocidal action on transiting air, certified by the University of Ancona: such action is effective on various microbial pathogens, both due to the action of the high voltage electrostatic field and to the slight production of ozone around the plates;3 electronic filters have a high biocidal action on what is deposited on the filter: the filter is therefore no longer a passive element that amplifies biological contamination (like traditional mechanical filters), but an element of the ventilation system that reduces it. In short, as well as retaining part of the substances suspended in the air, the minimal percentage that is not filtered is partially passivated and what is deposited on the filter is almost entirely passivated. For this reason, we can say that they are more than filters: they are actual air purifiers. The removal action is as effective on fresh air and recirculation air on an AHU as it is crucial on a fan coil (secondary air), which handles at least 5/6 volumes of ambient air in an hour and therefore purifies the ambient air repeatedly (it purifies all the ambient air every 10/12 min).Sabiana Crystall filters are certified according to Standard UNI EN 16980 and feature several other advantages in terms of reducing ventilation consumption on an AHU, reducing the contamination of the duct connections, reducing maintenance costs, etc. For further information, please refer to our documentation.Crystall electronic filters can be applied to the following SABIANA products:• Fan coils with casing,• Cassette fan coils,• Recessed fan coils,• Controlled Mechanical Ventilation (CMV) units• Air Handling Units, also applied to already installed AHUs made by other manufacturers• Systems for duct or outlet installationFinally, we wish to point out that the correct design of air diffusion systems, which promote good ventilation efficiency with several supply points at the top and several return points at the bottom to prevent pathogens from “wandering” throughout the environment, is a mandatory practice to be followed more than ever at this historical time.We have always been a benchmark in the Ventilation and Air Quality industry. Please contact our agents and sales representatives for all the necessary details. We put our expertise, developed over the years, at your disposal to counteract, today and in the future, the massive spread of substances harmful to humans in confined spaces.Sabiana will also hold a Webinar on the topic shortly: you will be notified of the date (or dates) in order to take part and further explore these topics.

Sabiana presents Plenum

Now, more than ever, along with comfort in terms of temperature and humidity, two other essential features are taken into account for an air-conditioning system: the noise level and the healthiness of the air circulated in the room.Sabiana, which has strongly focused on these aspects, is launching for the first time on the market a silencer plenum for fan coils that makes it possible to reach unheard-of sound emission levels in air-conditioning systems.IssuesIn some types of room, typically where people sleep, there is a greater attention on the sound level of fan coils compared to its thermal and energy performance. Modern fans of non-ducted and ducted fan coils with average head values now have very low sound emission levels, but for medium- and large-sized units one needs to consider a possible soundproofing system to avoid affecting sleep at night. The solutionSabiana has designed a compact plenum (just 50 cm wide) to be installed on the fan coil outlet, featuring a fully protected glass wool lining that guarantees considerably lower sound levels and a minimal pressure drop.Sound levels can be reduced to 14 dB(A) at a frequency of 1,000 Hz with a pressure drop at average flow rates of 5 Pa.The plenum is currently available both for CRC series fan coils and for CRSO ones, in asynchronous motor and inverter version, as shown in the respective catalogues.ApplicationIn hotels, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and residential settings sound levels are the first feature that defines the quality of an air-conditioning system: the Sabiana silencer plenum can be the right solution even for the most demanding customers.

Sabiana presents Sky Star Jumbo

Sabiana is a leading European company in the design, manufacture and sale of Cassette water fan coils. The environmentally-friendly fluid is used to air-condition any kind of building whilst providing the best possible comfort. The latest innovation we proudly presented at the recently held Expocomfort 2018 fair and that went into production over the last few months is our new Skystar Jumbo Cassette fan coil. It is available in two new models and in different versions, with performance levels and features that broaden the application of this kind of product to hitherto unthinkable installations.IssuesIn rooms with large volumes and very high ceilings, air handing poses issues that are not always easy to solve in summer, but especially in winter. They can lead to ruling out a specific type of fan coils, like Cassette ones, which nevertheless provide one of the best possible solutions to air-condition non-residential settings, in terms of design, sound level and energy consumption. The solutionSabiana offers SkyStar Jumbo Cassette fan coils in the ECM version with brushless motor and inverter with the following specifications:Cooling capacity up to 15 kW (water 7-12°C, air 27°C db - 19°C wb)Air flow up to 2,500 m3/hAir throw up to 7.5 mInstallation height up to 5 m (with residual air speed equal to 0.2 m/s).Motorised direction control fins (optional)F7 filter (optional)Cassette fan coils can therefore be installed in very high rooms whilst retaining excellent air diffusion and, at the same time, reducing the number of units. What is more, the inverter-controlled brushless ECM electronic motors maximise energy savings and are extremely quiet. The new grid design is currently the most elegant solution on the market and perfectly blends in with any architectural solution and any kind of non-residential setting.SkyStar Jumbo Cassette fan coils can feature motorised fins and can be controlled with digital wall controls or with a remote control. Moreover, thanks to the Modbus board they can also be controlled remotely, integrated in Sabianet management systems or in any other Building Management System (BMS).ApplicationSkystar Jumbo is therefore the ideal air-conditioning solution for large, very high rooms such as hotel foyers, shopping centre arcades, car dealers and airports.
