Hotels: non smoking rooms?

Not really. They are just as polluted as rooms for smokers: "no smoking" hotel rooms are as hazardous as those reserved for cigarette lovers. The findings were revealed by the University of San Diego (USA), in a study published by the "British medical journal", which analysed the surfaces and air quality of rooms in 40 hotels. Ten of these had completely banned smoking in every room, while the others had special rooms for smokers. The surfaces of the no smoking rooms of these hotels had nicotine levels more than twice as high as the rooms of hotels where smoking was banned in all rooms. And the other data not to be overlooked, was that 3-Ethynylpyridine in the air, a harmful substance produced by tobacco combustion, was seven times higher than that found in the other hotels. A problem that the authoritative British journal urges to solve as soon as possible. To protect the health of guests and hotel workers as well. How can the problem be solved in practice? "The Sabiana Crystall filter can eliminate the onset of these risks," says engineer Luigi Bontempi, a professor at Accademia Sabiana and an expert in Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), “because it makes it possible to capture and hold all the pollutants in smoke, among others." How? “Thanks to electrical polarisation (positive or negative) of particles, so they are deposited and locked on a surface having the opposite polarity.”

Clean air urgently needed!

Torino, Varese, Rome: these Italian cities were covered by the research published on Lancet Oncology, recording some of the worst pollution levels in Europe. The fine dust suspended in the air exceed the parameters established by the European Community, according to which the particulate must remain below 40 micrograms per cubic metre for Pm 10 and below 20 micrograms for Pm 25. The figures are worrying: there is a very close relationship between the concentration of pollutants in the air and the risk to suffer from lung cancer. Unfortunately, this is confirmed by the new cases recorded in Italy since 2010. The fine dust we breathe every day when going for a walk on the streets of our cities and which seeps into our homes is an enemy we must fight. As soon as possible. Therefore, clean air is urgently needed, at least in the home. By implementing solutions that allow the fine dust to be filtered and withheld, without recirculating it in one’s living space.Torino, Varese, Rome: these Italian cities were covered by the research published on Lancet Oncology, recording some of the worst pollution levels in Europe. San Raffaele, Italian excellence

Gene therapy against the HIV virus works. The research findings were published in the prestigious San Raffaele magazine of Milan, and stemmed from the work of scientists at Istituto San Raffaele of Milan. A further acknowledgement for the Milanese structure which is confirmed as one of the most significant worldwide concerns in the field of research. Sabiana heats the giant’s lair

The international press has commented on the decision by Airbus – the French aviation company that constructs the giants of the air – to heat the sheds where the Airbus A380 is assembled using Sabiana products. An even more significant decision in view of the difficulties posed by a market that hardly concedes the honour of primacy to foreign companies. This what the prestigious British magazine Inside industry has to say in this connection.
