This office is a gas chamber...

This was evidenced by the just published, extensive research called OfficAir Project that the prestigious institution has conducted in eight European countries, including Italy. The results are disheartening to say the least: formaldehyde, benzene and terpenes are far above the risk threshold. The smog pollution entering from the windows, in fact, is compounded by the pollution from linoleum floors, furniture glues and paints, cleaning products, photocopiers and printers. In other words, an actual gas chamber where we spend most of our day. Still not convinced? Here are some figures: in the offices analysed in Italy, in winter, the concentration of formaldehyde, which is carcinogenic, is 15 micrograms per cubic metre while outside it stops at 4 micrograms. In the summer, the indoor level reaches 18 micrograms (9 outdoors). Taking into account that – according to CNR experts – the danger threshold is 10 micrograms, the sums soon add up. Ans this is but one of the 30 pollutants analysed by CNR. This is not scaremongering: it is widely proven that breathing polluted air is an extremely serious health hazard. The studies in the field are by now countless. And the results are unquestioned: pollution kills. In short: solutions are urgently required. The technology is already here: most offices, in fact, are air-conditioned. All it would take to address the root of the problem and allow workers to breathe clean and disinfected air, is to fit air conditioners with an effective filter. Sabiana, double contract in Turkey

The Abdullah Gul University in Kayseri and a futuristic residential complex in the centre of Ankara: two important contracts that Sabiana has been awarded in Turkey. Two batches of 3820 Skystar and Maestro appliances, the Sabiana fan coils with extremely high performance and low energy consumption, higher than the supply for Europe’s tallest building, Torre Pelli in Milan. An even more significant result in view of the fact that Turkey is unanimously viewed as a strategic market for expansion towards some important neighbouring emerging countries. Not coincidentally, the turnover for fan coils in Turkey has increased by 88%, in contrast with the German and French market, which conversely show a 10% decline. Sabiana’s results have been underlined as significant by various media outlets. The Abdullah Gul University in Kayseri and a futuristic residential complex in the centre of Ankara: two important contracts that Sabiana has been awarded in Turkey. New climate at Sabiana’s

Society changes and so do we. A new logo and a new website bear witness to the dynamism that has always been our key feature. And they add to our company’s image, which has always stood for Italian quality worldwide. In an ever more globalised world, which tends to flatten technological offer and standardise production processes, the founding values of a company are its strongest distinctive feature. That is why communication becomes increasingly important, seen as the ability to tell one’s story in the best way. With utter transparency and no false modesty. That is why we have decided to fine tune the way we communicate with employees, customers, suppliers and the public in general: with all of you. The process helped us reflect on our history, our abilities, our strengths. It urged us to define what we would like to change as the times change and, conversely, what we would never give up. This process has taken us into the very core of our company’s essence. The way its founders envisioned and built it, and the way we continue seeing it – a company made by people for the people. A company at the centre of which is man. This process has led to the two novelties we would like to present: the new website and the new company logo. The logo has retained the usual characters and colours, because for us tradition is a value. But next to them, we wanted new, contemporary graphics, to express the company’s dynamism and to hint to the two natural elements underlying our work: water and air. The new website has added information and features with the aim of offering a valid, continuously updated work tool to all the people making up the Sabiana universe: customers, employees, suppliers. Two main new features stand out: firstly, a sub-menu (under the main banner) for targeted navigation, from which one may directly access all the information concerning the company and individual product ranges. Secondly, a communication and exchange area specifically designed for agents: a forum through which one may exchange information on the market, the products and work in general. Because we are convinced that exchange, sharing, having common objectives, difficulties, successes is the foundation for a strong and winning team. Because we believe that together, we will continue growing and tackling the challenges of home and foreign markets. Society changes and so do we. Hotels: non smoking rooms?

Not really. They are just as polluted as rooms for smokers: "no smoking" hotel rooms are as hazardous as those reserved for cigarette lovers. The findings were revealed by the University of San Diego (USA), in a study published by the "British medical journal", which analysed the surfaces and air quality of rooms in 40 hotels. Ten of these had completely banned smoking in every room, while the others had special rooms for smokers. The surfaces of the no smoking rooms of these hotels had nicotine levels more than twice as high as the rooms of hotels where smoking was banned in all rooms. And the other data not to be overlooked, was that 3-Ethynylpyridine in the air, a harmful substance produced by tobacco combustion, was seven times higher than that found in the other hotels. A problem that the authoritative British journal urges to solve as soon as possible. To protect the health of guests and hotel workers as well. How can the problem be solved in practice? "The Sabiana Crystall filter can eliminate the onset of these risks," says engineer Luigi Bontempi, a professor at Accademia Sabiana and an expert in Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), “because it makes it possible to capture and hold all the pollutants in smoke, among others." How? “Thanks to electrical polarisation (positive or negative) of particles, so they are deposited and locked on a surface having the opposite polarity.”
