t (also known as the European Parliament) is a legislative body of the European Union elected directly by its citizens with universal suffrage. Together with the Council of the European Union, it is one of the two chambers that exercise the legislative power in the Union.
The European Parliament has three seats: Brussels, Strasbourg and Luxembourg. Plenary sessions are held both in Brussels and in Strasbourg, while committee meetings are always held in Brussels. Luxembourg is the seat of the General Secretariat of the European Parliament.
The European Parliament, currently composed of 751 deputies, is by the number of voters the second largest parliamentary assembly in the world among those elected through democratic elections after the House of People of India. Every five years since 1979, elections are held simultaneously in all member states to elect MEPs.
The building is air conditioned by the Sabiana fan coils.
